Dr. Emmanuel Lahaniatis Scholarship

Support to Young Scientists

In memory of Dr. Emmanuel Lahaniatis, founding member and past president of MESAEP, the association establisheds one (1) scholarship award to support a young scientist in his/her first year of the post-graduate studies. The scholarship will be awarded during the 17th Symposium of MESAEP.

The “Dr. Emmanuel Lahaniatis Scholarship” is a €5,000 non-renewable award and is intended to support the young scientists in their pursuit of continuing graduate education.

To qualify, the applicant must:

  • be a graduated student with University B.Sc. degree
  • be up to 30 years of age
  • have already been accepted at a University abroad in a country other than his/her country of origin or residence for M.Sc. or PhD. studies under the general subject: “Environmental pollution and its impact on life”
  • be a national or resident of a country of the Mediterranean Region.

 

Application to the Scholarship

The applicants should fill out and send the application form existing in the MESAEP web-site along with a short CV and their B.Sc. degree.

Applicants should send their applications by the end of February 2020 by email at mesaep2020@gmail.com .

A Selection Committee of past MESAEP presidents will be appointed to review the applications.

 

First Awardee of the Dr. Emmanuel Lahaniatis Scholarship

Mrs. Gulia Bertolotti, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering of the University of Trento, Italy was awarded on 24.09.2011 “Dr Emmanuel Lahaniatis Memorial Scholarship” for the academic year 2011-2012. The Fellowship award is in recognition of Mrs. Bertolotti past achievements and her future ambitions.

The Mediterranean Scientific Association of Environmental Protection (MESAEP) will make this excellence award an option to potential new scientists to further encourage science and research under this option in the future.

Second Awardee of the Dr. Emmanuel Lahaniatis Scholarship

Ms.  Aikaterini Kademoglou, Marie Curie Doctoral Research Fellow at the School of Human Geography and Environmental Sciences University of Reading, United Kingdom, was awarded on 28.09.2013 “Dr Emmanuel Lahaniatis Memorial Scholarship” for the academic year 2013-2014. The Fellowship award is in recognition of Ms.  Kademoglou past achievements and her future ambitions.
